Reflection/evaluation


Date: Thursday 3rd May

Presenters: Mohammed Esmail

Subject: Maldives

Mohammed started his presentation with the first slide showing the Maldives flag. He talked about the significance of the colors, crescent etc. On the next slide he showed and explained the graph showing the main cities and geographic features clearly and the economic incomes. The map was informative. He talked about Male, the capital on the largest island, and the main food is fish and vegetables. He also mentioned it’s the best place for honeymooners.

Mohammed concentrated on the traditions. He also showed pictures of the people in their traditional dancing costumes.

Body language: very good, appearing confident & knowledgeable.

Questions: he fielded these as he went through the presentation. It was very lively with reasonable questions from the students. Questions throughout were fielded and answered confidently & well.

.Agenda:
The new energy,

high cost, friendly to environment,

low cost, the increasing of CO2, economy in Europe  

The chairman Hamdan opened the meeting at 10:15
1. New Energy:
Hamdan said its a good idea to use the hydroelectric energy
Hedley worried about the price of the hydroelectric power because some countries cannot afford it .
Amer said that our country can afford the cost of the hydroelectric power and other alternative energy

Othman said our country can use the solar energy, because enough sunlight to produce energy and we can use floating windmills in the sea to produce energy.    

2. Uranium energy:
Hamdan said that the Uranium energy can be used in any country and it’s cheap and Hedley said is good idea and Othman said that our country is building a new city called Masdar city that will decreasing the CO2 and it uses clean energy. Amer said  the government support the clean energy by (IRENA) meeting.



3. oil effects on the environment:

Amer said that the oil and the gases are affects the environment and we must decreasing the CO2. Hedley said that we cannot stop using the oil, because many countries in Europe depends on the oil energy.




4. Europe economy:
Some countries cannot afford the alternative energy, because the of economy crises like, Greece and UK.

 In the end we reached the conclusion of:

1. Othman and Amer agreed with Hamdan but hedley said it’s very expensive.
2. The nuclear energy got positive views from the group.

3. The idea of stop using oil cannot be applied because some countries can’t use alternative energy.
4. Europe will continue using cheap and harmful energy sources due to economy crises and the high cost of alternative energies.

Position: Pilot

Hedley welcomed Mohammed and introduced the other interviewers. Mohammed said he is 35 years old and aviation is his family profession.

Ahmed: What are your goals? I want to be a businessman and own a private plane. Why do you want to work at our company? I want to get experience. In terms of salary, how much are you hoping to make? I’m hoping for one hundred thousand.

Abdullah: Why should I hire you? Because piloting is my hobby and it’s my profession. What are your outside interests? Riding horses. Can you work under pressure? I can’t work under pressure.

Hedley: What is your greatest weakness? I can’t see clearly.

Position: chemical engineer ADGAS


Hedley greeted & introduced Sultan to Ahmed and Fahed. Sultan said he is single and he have 10 years experience.

Ahmed: Why should I hire you? I’m confident and I have experience. Can you work under pressure? I had a restless working program like 40 day nightshifts. What are your goals? My goal is to improve the company. In terms of salary, how much are you hoping to make? Well in terms of my salary I hope to get a better salary than my previous job.

Fahed: What is your greatest weakness? I can’t work with lazy people who can’t get their work done. What is your outside interest? I play football.

Position: refinery manager, Takreer, in Ruwais.



Hedley welcomed him & Mohammed introduced himself: 31, married with two wives, and a player in a handball team in Al Jazira club.
Hazza: Why Should I hire you? I have a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and 5 years experience. How do you feel about working nights and weekends? I can’t work at night because I can’t give my best in the labs. Tell me somrthing negative you heard about our company? I heard that you don’t give bonuses.
Abdulla: What is your greatest weakness? I’m not good in maths and calculations. Do you have any questions for us? No.
